--“A Musical Love Story Set In America’s Heartland”—was presented at The York Theatre in New York in 2008. With book, lyrics and music by Bob Larimer, the show starred Jim Price, Blair Ross and Mimi Bessette, and was directed by Reagan Fletcher, musical direction by Randy Redd. The story chronicles events in the rural countryside, along the less traveled back roads that are colored blue on the map. James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director of The York Theatre, commented, “Our patrons were quite enthusiastic about Blue Roads
, and felt it was unique in its sound—a country bluegrass musical being atypical of the form.”
Trixie loves Charley. But his former wife is Stella Apple, a famous country music star. And she just might want to get back on the horse that threw her. An original musical comedy, Blue Roads is about the price of fame and the choices, good and bad, made in its pursuit.
Two versions of songs from the show are available here: a cast recording of The York Theatre presentation and demos recorded in Nashville.
